We have 3 interesting programs going on in the Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business in which we have volunteers teaching in schools:
(1) MONEY MATH (the name for now!): we will have about a dozen volunteers teaching a new financial literacy/math program at six different 4th-grade class rooms in South Bend.
(2) FAMILIA EXTENDIDA: another group of volunteers will be working with families on English language training/immersion at St. Adalbert's school.
(3) REACH THE WORLD: we have a third group of volunteers in a stand alone, established program in which curriculum from real-time world travelers is being integrated into three 6th-grade classrooms at Dickinson Intermediate Center in South Bend. (the web site for this interesting program is at http://www.reachtheworld.org/ ).
SO ..... this would be a blog where everyone from each program can submit program notes and announcements, stories, reactions, trials and tribulations, successes, etc. And we can compare notes about what's happening in each program, what's working/not working, and how each is evolving.
The only trick is that we need to "code" each blog entry. You begin the title of each post by the name of the program about which you are writing:
MM = Money Math (or whatever acronym matches the new name)
FE = Familia Extendida
RTW = Reach the World
The blog provides the capability for comments / discussion underneath each post, so we can use this as a forum for discussion and development of teaching best practices.
Could get messy, but there may be ways to keep it organized.
What do you guys think ? (post a comment by clicking on the "X comments" text below)
